On My Back
This season, the leader of the pack is the humble backpack.
B
ackpacker. The humble rucksack did it. It turned the tides and established itself as this season’s Queen B. From New York to London to Berlin, cool kids are embracing the practical and sexy fashion necessity. Not only is this sensible style of bags being featured in the fall collections of Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone and Sass & Bide, but our favorite fashion people have also been caught carrying this functional item. Setting the trend are model Cara Delevingne and bestie Rhianna, who have been spotted with the most wanted backpacks - from personalized denim rucksack by Burberry to printed designs by MCM. Streetstyle stars Miroslava Duma and Elena Perminova also join the revolution, instilling a youthful spirit in their classy looks with their Chanel quilted bags on their backs.

The harvest this season is plentiful, as backpacks pop up in every designer collection. Milly makes her sophisticated stance with a quilted lamb leather backpack she named “Avery”, while Stella McCartney creates hers in faux brushed-leather with her signature chain trims. Playing with the trend is 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Name Drop backpack - cheekily embossed with the word “NAME”. When it comes to fun, Moschino takes kitsch to the max decorating bags with a blingy gold chain boldly spelling out “Moschino”. For those looking for something sweet, check out Elizabeth and James’ Cynnie drawstring backpack in pink beach, or Valentino’s rockstud backpack which literally rocks in pink.
