HOOKED TO HER LOOK
Whether it’s pairing a leather sheepskin jacket with sneakers for a laid back look or glamming it up in a lace dress and heels, Ms. Pernille Teisbæk manages to put a special spin on everyday outfits leaving an unforgettable impression ingrained in our heads. The 29 year old has worked in the industry for nine years, noted for her role as an ELITE model and fashion editor at Danish magazines, such as Woman, Alt for Damerne and Eurowoman. Today, Ms. Teisbæk is a freelancer taking fashion by storm as a stylist, blogger at Look de Pernille, designer and fashion consultant at Denmark’s most popular morning TV show Go’morn DK.

“The last couple of years I've been focusing more on finding classic items that will last many seasons to come.” says Ms. Teisbæk who is often snapped by street style sites, such as Le 21ème, “But that being said I also succumb to some spontaneous buys, which I just did in Paris. I found a bright red quilted Chanel bag, it adds a bit of color to my wardrobe.” The wardrobe she speaks of has graced the pages of many international titles that have sited the Danish blonde as a fashion inspiration, with readers wishing to imitate her model off duty ease and a nomination for the 'Style Icon of the Year' award at ELLE Denmark's prestigious ELLE Style Awards.
Here, Ms. Teisbæk talks about the look de Pernille, her life as a stylist and moving to NYC next fall.
I’VE WORKED IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY
since 2005. I started my journey as a model at ELITE Model Management. Later, I moved to work as Fashion Editor at the Danish magazine’s Woman, Alt for Damerne and Eurowoman. After six years of monthly deadlines and familiar surroundings, I decided to go it alone and stand on my own two feet. For the past two years I have been working full-time as a freelance stylist, blogger, designer and fashion consultant for the Danish morning TV show “Go’morgen Danmark”.
IT ALWAYS SURPRISES ME THAT
at the end of the day, the fashion industry is just one big family! Everybody seems to be connected and know each other. Working in fashion I’ve learnt to always listen to your gut feeling and believe in it. I've tried so many times to listen to others, but every time I should have stayed true to my gut instinct.
WHEN IT COMES TO MY BEAUTY ROUTINE
I really like a natural look, so I don’t use too many products. One thing that always does miracles for me is a tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier, it gives my skin a healthy and glowing look. I also like to highlight my brows with a brown gel from MAC, it adds a bit of character to my look. One thing I always bring in my bag is a hand lotion from Rudolph Care and a Lip cure from Tromborg - some of the best organic Danish brands.
TO TREAT MYSELF I INDULGE IN
a spa facial massage to keep my skin look moist and glowing. Line Friis has created a way of keeping your skin looking young and fresh without using Botox. According to her you should massage your face daily, but I treat myself to 90 minutes of heaven with a treatment at her home every month.
IF I COULD ONLY USE ONE BEAUTY PRODUCT
it would be my facial crème from Environ, it contains A Vitamin, which gives my skin a healthy glow. I don't use many products, but my skin often dries out from flying, so my facial cream is a must have.
I WOULD LOVE TO DO MORE EXERCISE
but I've been traveling so much lately it’s hard to fit it in. I love running so I always bring my running shoes wherever I go. It is also the best way to explore a new city and clear my mind!
I’VE PROBABLY MADE MANY FASHION FAUX PAS!
I often like to style things my own way whether it's deemed "right" or not. I’ve found this lately pairing Nike socks with elegant Gianvito Rossi shoes - some like it, some don’t, but as long as I feel good about it I don’t care!
MY FAVOURITE WARDROBE PIECE
is a quilted Balenciaga leather jacket, it just gets better and better the more I wear it. My Céline long sleeved knit was one of my best sales finds! I also have a great pair of Céline sandals, jeans from Acne, and a Menswear shirt bought on sale from Ralph Lauren that are favourites. I love to shop at Holly Golightly in Copenhagen - it's a multi brand store with only exclusive brands, and they know how to pick out the best pieces in each collection.
ONE TREND I WILL ALWAYS LOVE
is what the French refer to as "day-wear". Celine designer Phoebe Philo introduced the easy dressing and feel-good clothes which really inspired me and my way of styling. It's so elegant and feminine - less is more! If I ever could have started a trend it would have been that one...
STYLE FOR ME IS SOMETHING THAT RUNS
in your blood - it comes naturally to you and it’s not something you can 100% learn, but you can adapt it from others! Style is very individual and shows off your personality, which is what makes "personal style" even more interesting.
IN THE FUTURE I WILL BE
moving to NYC next fall for a period to focus on my work as a stylist, which I really love. There are so many things going on right now, so it's difficult to be specific about what else will happen - that is actually one of the things I love about my work and life…the sky is the limit!
