Issue 62
Ford Power
Wake up and smell the sculpted sensuality of designer Tom Ford’s
dressed up, glammed up, powered up, sexed up collection for the new season.
Power-assisted steering needed for your weak wardrobe? Not to worry, as our favourite womenswear and menswear designer Tom Ford is here to the rescue. Imposing his power law on his collection for a woman who “can snap your neck with her thighs” this season, Mr. Ford sculpts perfection that is unapologetically sexy and toxically addictive.

“What I love the most about Tom Ford’s design is that they are always sophisticated and elegant,” says stylist Marilia Chamon. “He is, for me, the synonym of sophistication. The silhouettes are so chic, strong and of course, sexy; only Tom can empower women in such a way.”

Opening the show is French model Josephine Le Tutour, who makes the powered up statement of the collection in a broad-shoulder bomber jacket in opulent caramel crocodile leather with a matching short dress and leather gladiator sandals with a golden chain heel. What follows further show the full power spectrum of the collection working with a range of opulent materials all too familiar to the London-based brand: snake skin, feathers, chain mail, patchwork, hard satin, tulle, Gabardine, and appliqués.

Spidery lace sexes up the collection leaving an intoxicating impression, as the laces of dresses and thigh high boots restrain and contain the contours of the body crafting a “covered up but not really covered up” look. While the silhouette of the collection remains predominantly strong and fitted, Mr. Ford fuses sumptuous glamour with an unprecedented sporty ease. Exhibit A and B: leather tank tops and chain mail long-sleeved T-shirt to be worn dressed up or down. As with every Tom Ford collection, glamour is at its heart. Mosaic embroidery gives birth to sparkly evening dresses that would surely become the magical number that steals the night away.

Naturally to complement the powerful collection is a strong cast of models with a toned body and radiant look. Betty Adewole, Caroline Brasch Nielsen, Josephine Skriver, and Marine Deleeuw are amongst the few handpicked to power walk down Mr. Ford’s catwalk this season. Make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury kept their faces flawless and sculpted, focusing on a bold brow using Tom Ford Brow Sculptor. For nails, celebrity nail artist Liza Smith chose neutral tones to keep the look fresh and natural, while hairstylist Orlando Pita created a tousled chignon for these glamorous Powerpuff girls.

After all, a new season demands a new source of energy and this collection exactly embodies such by empowering and embellishing our looks this summer. So, let’s embrace it and embark on a #TF fashion venture!
