Out of the Blue
This season, designers mix colors and patchwork
with double denim to capture our imagination.
“M
ix it up!” is how designers are updating the double denim trend this season. From offering literally 50 shades of blue to infusing patchwork, there is something for everybody to personalize your favorite double denim looks. Play with it by mixing and matching denim pieces in different shades from light blue to indigo. AG jeans does not only offer denim in various washes and colors, but also offers shape and flexibility with its Contour 360 line. For something more rugged, Swedish brand Nudie Jeans offers faded, dusty denim; while Raquel Allegra’s chambray pieces are the relaxed chic choice that looks classy on both work days and weekends.

The traditional craft of patchwork is also updated at Cheap Monday, Each X Other and Stella McCartney creating imaginative street cool looks. “The clashing textures and colors of patchwork allow for head to toe denim giving the look depth rather than making one a walking, giant block of blue,” says stylist of the shoot, Jason Leung. He especially singles out the Each X Other jeans with leather strips as the investment piece of the season. “They give instant attitude,” he explains.
